GTC Founders HELP TO BUILD a better community through giving

Getting To College, Inc. ("GTC") was formed in 2012, in 2013 a 1023 was filed and within the 5 months of filing, GTC became a not for profit, registered 501(C)3 program under the IRS code, a real charitable organization.  In 2014, the founder after doing some research uncovered the need to file and register with NYS Attorney Generals Office Bureau of Charities and received the registration designation shortly thereafter.

A large part of GTC's mission is inspiration.  GTC will reach out and find those students in need, help them to achieve their GED, provide test preparation services through eligible vendors and put students on a level playing field to get into trade schools or post secondary institutions they may not have otherwise been afforded.  Other supports may include tutoring, backpack and supplies, clothing, and transportation, all the things that many of us take for granted.  Together, we will help students become successful in their challenges, help them to see themselves as contributors to society, and become individual economic forces, someone who might bring great changes to help better our society and pay forward opportunities.

The GTC vision is large - helping at risk student populations in our geographic area, Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady and Saratoga Counties. GTC will provide a network of volunteers and professionals who can provide retention efforts while helping the student with solutions to issues they face.  Education, information, support and caring for students is our commitment.  A commitment to our community, working together to make it a great place to live, learn and work.

In order to provide these services to those who are truly in need in our community, we rely on contributions from individuals and businesses for support. Without the assistance of community - minded individuals just like you, we will not be able to serve this important population.

GTC will provide banner ads for businesses and provide fundraising efforts through out web venue and we have a series of other ideas that will make GTC something more than an organization always asking for money.  Through grant writing and business options, we will together provide some of the greatest supports to Capital Region community members.

Why should we count on your support

This is your community, and there can be no dynamic or synergism for economic growth without you.  Each of us have a responsibility to our community, and in order to make it the best place, we must reduce poverty, we need to help those who never fished before learn a productive way to help themselves.  It takes a village to raise a child, and it certainly makes sense in every way to give someone a hand up, rather than a hand out.  Teaching and education is the way to positive change and growth.

GTC Founder Giving Levels

Our goal is to make the organization financially sufficient.  More than 85% of all donations made to GTC will go to our students.  We are currently preparing a Grant writing campaign, identifying Grants, preparing RFP's and organizing a plan that will work for GTC, but we still need a great deal of funding. Through giving donations from Organizations, Employers, Tributes, Matching gifts, Bequests, Stocks, Planned giving and Sponsoring, we will accomplish great things.  Our Founders giving levels, begin at $50,000.00.  We are registered with NYS charities bureau.

We hope you will join us in efforts, in our vision, and become a GTC Founder.  This opportunity will give you a chance to monitor our program in great ways, with personalized information about the progress of students, and invitations to events as well as having your name on our letterhead as a GTC Founder.
